Welcome to Hollywood Park!

History

Did you know Hollywood Park was born in a homeowner's garage more than 60 years ago?

This small neighborhood flourished in 1955 on a gravel road connected to the old San Pedro Street. The residents were concerned about losing their independence to San Antonio, so they held a meeting to discuss the possibility of incorporation. Homeowners were given the decision-making power and voted on paper ballots in the Weinholtz home's garage on a Saturday in October 1955. It was a historic day as the Town of Hollywood Park was officially incorporated on December 7, 1955. Back then, Hollywood Park was a small but growing town, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Families would go to Handy Andy on San Pedro for groceries and Jim's Frontier Drive-In restaurant on San Pedro and Basse for dining out. But over the years, Hollywood Park has transformed into a diverse mix of professionals, including lawyers, teachers, doctors, and business people. Many of the children and grandchildren of the early residents are now the community's leaders. Despite its growth, Hollywood Park has retained its sense of community and is a friendly and peaceful place to call home. It's not just a town of brick and mortar; it's a community with a rich history and a promising future. Families have worked together to create a true sense of community that still thrives today.
